On Thursday, the 9th of April 2020, the American Samoa Bar Association awarded a total of $2500 in scholarships to three current law students of Samoan ancestry.  The three recipients are: 

  • Joseph V. Langkilde, a first-Year Student at the Harvard Law School.  Mr. Langkilde is a 2013 graduate of Faasao-Marist High School and is from Tafuna, American Samoa. He is the son of J. Victor Langkilde and Gwen Tauiliili-Langkilde. 
  • Ian Tapu, a third-year student at the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii – Manoa. Mr. Tapu has roots in Faleniu and Poloa.
  • Jazmine Tapusoa, a third-year student at the J. Reuben Law School at the Brigham Young University in Provo Utah.  Ms. Tapusoa is the granddaughter of Dr. Uimaiitua Poloai of Olosega, Manu’a.
